Moto Sport

Following up yesterday's fab moto blog, this post also features another striking Tudor watch from Bromberg's. Like the men's Blackshield I wore in my previous post, the Fly-back style, $4400, worn in these photos, also has a sporty look. It's a sharp piece. The perforated leather band is on-point with the active wear trend that's big in fashion right now. Love it. This style is also available in a steel band or an enlarged perforated leather style. I'm very into perforated leather right now (I wore perforated leather shorts in yesterday's post), so naturally this watch caught my eye. Bromberg's has a nice selection of styles by Tudor, which is owned by Rolex. The line is really sharp looking. You should definitely stop by the store to check them out. Many thanks to store manager Brian Hood for letting me play in these gorgeous watches : ), as well as to photographers Rachel and Noah Echols for these lovely shots. And of course, to my colleague Derek for lending his beautiful bike! : )

Happy Tuesday!

Fast Rider

Sporty and athletic influences are having a big moment in fashion. The trend has sparked an energy that's really fun and, in many cases, playfully irreverent (hence, my perforated leather gym shorts by Capulet). When a co-worker friend of mine offered to let me use his BMW motorcycle for a shoot, I seized the opportunity to play off of the active wear trend. So much fun using it -- the bike totally set the mood for the shoot. Thank you, Derek!

Bromberg's in Mountain Brook kindly lent a couple new watches by Tudor, a line owned by Rolex, which the store recently started carrying. These watches are gorgeous. It was a lovely visit, and store manager Brian Hood was very hospitable. When perusing the watches, I was immediately drawn to the Fastrider Black Shield, $4925, one of the sportier-looking men's styles. I love the pops of red against the black. A very striking piece. I selected another Tudor men's style with a perforated leather watch band, which I'll be wearing in tomorrow's post, so stay tuned for that.

So many beautiful shots to choose from by my talented photographer friends, Rachel and Noah Echols, I decided to break my two looks up into two separate blog posts. Always a good time working with these two :-).

The necklace and rings that arrived in this month's Sunset 45 little luxuries monthly subscription box were the perfect compliment to this look. I stacked the bar rings for a bold effect, adding a little edge. I wrapped the necklace around my wrist and looped it around my middle finger, creating a slave bracelet. Love these pieces -- the September box is absolutely my favorite one thus far. Also included in the box was a daintier chain necklace (not pictured, but coming up in a separate post that I recently shot). It's an adorable piece that will be getting a lot of wear. The beauty items inside this month's box included a richly pigmented black eyeliner pencil as well as a set of black and white nail art, which I have on my nails in these photos.

Safari Babe

So happy it's Friday!!! Excited for the weekend! Here's a quick Friday post of an outfit I wore on my birthday that I really love. It's kind of a sexy safari vibe. I love the contrast of this glam ostrich feather skirt against this oversize crinkly olive shirt. The heels add the babe factor. I love how this top was wadded up in my drawer before slipping it on - the wrinkles work. The jewelry also plays into the safari feel. I am absolutely adoring my new Bora Bora bracelet from Geoffrey Scott. Mine is in Orange Crush. The Baja Brown is also hot. It's a really wearable piece that goes with everything. On my other wrist are my Geoffrey Scott Tulum stretch bracelets. Again, so wearable. I wear mine all the time. These new Round Grain sunglasses from Triple Graces have become my absolute faves. Always getting compliments on these.

I had a blast shooting with Birmingham based photographer Mary Catherine Fehr on my good friend Jay's rooftop. Jay and I share a birthday, and this is actually where our joint party took place.. for a little while, before we had to move inside. Thanks, rain. Anyway, I was grateful for glorious sunshine for this shoot! Hope y'all have a fantastic weekend!

xx, M

It is a peculiar yet very exciting thing for me to see myself wearing big girl earrings. After getting my ears pierced for the first time about eight weeks ago, I am excited to finally take out my tiny studs and graduate to newer styles. For the next several months, I'll still be in the studs only phase for safety reasons, but I had to try on these new blue dangly beauties from Shals, one of my fave online boutiques for jewelry. Her pieces are unreal affordable. The quality is excellent - these earrings don't look cheap at all. Obsessed. I'm thrilled to announce that I am now a brand ambassador for Shals. She is wonderful to work with and is very dedicated to customer satisfaction.

Click here to see some of the newest additions on her site. I have the Boylston style, which is new (post coming soon!) as well as the Yani's and the Andrea style. Also, I am just seeing the Middleton style for the first time on her website, and I am loving these as well. So elegant. And $26?! Just yes.

These lovely photos were shot by Birmingham based photographer Mary Catherine Fehr. More looks shot by Mary Catherine coming up! We had a blast shooting on a good friend of mine's rooftop. Shoots are so much more fun with fun friends present!

Happy Thursday!

Designer Spotlight: Jordan Alexander

An assortment of new design prototypes for the upcoming spring collection.
See below for description
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the lovely Jordan Alexander Jewelry store in Mountain Brook and enjoyed getting a peek at some of the line's brand new designs and prototypes for the upcoming spring collection. I was accompanied by my talented photographer friend Megan Forehand, who snapped these amazing photos in the Jordan Alexander Showroom and around the English Village. Store manager Joel Cheatwood gave me the most hospitable welcome, walking me through the store and filling me in on the latest with Jordan AlexanderThe showroom is beautiful - gorgeously chic jewelry and home furnishings. The designer, Theresa Bruno, recently branched out into home decor. Of the furnishings on display in the store, an exquisite pair of five ft. tall statement chairs left the biggest impression on me. I'm a sucker for interesting texture, and the custom leather that comprises the chairs, stamped with alligator skin and hand painted with horse hair and pearlized paint is absolutely stunning. My favorite piece of jewelry was the baroque freshwater pearl necklace with 18K gold and diamond framed ammonite pyrite fossil that I'm wearing in the first several shots of this post. Another striking piece is the one of a kind fossilized Peruvian opal tear drop pendant with diamond and aquamarine frame in 18K white gold, displayed on the tray in Photo 7. The black leather lariat tassel necklace with navy baroque pearls was another one of the new designs I tried on, along with a new leather and 14K gold and diamond roundel bracelet. I love the contrast of the leather and freshwater pearls. The tassel necklace is sexy and really versatile - could easily be dressed up or paired down with distressed denim and a cotton tee. Ditto on the bracelet (so love this piece!). Definitely an everyday piece that would look good layered with other bracelets or worn alone. See below for full descriptions and prices of the jewelry designs displayed on the trays.

As for the lipstick, I'm over the moon loving this new shade by Kismet cosmetics, Empower. It's a bright, cool shade of pink that has amazing grip and staying power. I've started to steer toward cooler shades of pinks lately and have found them to be more flattering. Empower is one of the shades I wear most frequently. Let me know if you're interested in buying a tube, as I am repping for the brand. Lipsticks are $16 a piece.

Mint Vespa

A lot of excitement happening in my life right now : ). I am feeling thankful and incredibly blessed. I have just recently become the first blogger sales rep for Kismet Cosmetics (AH-hem, boutiques and department stores ; ), and I am absolutely thrilled to be working with Caitlin Picou, who created the brand, which I've gotten to know over the past year. Those of you who have been following me know how much I love Kismet's lipsticks and instant bronzer. You'll find me wearing them in a lot of my Instagram and blog posts.

In this post, I am excited to be sporting one of Kismet's brand new shades of lipstick, Empower. Such a pretty and flattering pink! As I've said before, Kismet is my marathon lipstick - it stays put all day, yet it is not drying at all. I also have the Instant Bronzing lotion on my legs. This bronzer is a MUST because it has a faint gleam in it that makes legs look more toned. The scent is also really nice - very subtle and beachy - not your typical tanner fragrance. You will not find me in shorts or a skirt without this bronzer.

Now about these photos... Birmingham based photographer and new friend Megan Forehand shot these lovely images. Megan is good! One of the toughest times I've ever had narrowing down my fave photos. Just love these! And how adorable is this mint Vespa?! My friend, Derek, who I work with kindly lent it for this shoot. Best prop ever!

The beautiful bracelet I'm wearing on my right wrist is a Jordan Alexander design, (black leather and 14K white gold and diamond roundel bracelet with toggle clasp, $850). I absolutely love this piece, which the Jordan Alexander store in Mountain Brook kindly let me wear for the shoot. You'll want to peruse the gorgeous jewelry and home designs here, and if you're local, definitely stop by the store. I also got to play with a couple of stunning necklaces, both brand new designs, which I will be showing you in an upcoming post.

For those of you interested in getting a Kismet lipstick or bronzer, please send me a message! Happy Thursday! : )
