Cozy Cotton Casual

We had gorgeous Sunday weather in Birmingham yesterday, so we spent a little time outside and made a point to get in some shots together. For most of our posts, one of us is usually snapping photos of the other, so if a third party is present, I won't hesitate to employ them as camera person. : ) Fortunately, we had a very fun friend assume role as photographer. He's a stand-up comedian so the energy was especially good!

We like to dress comfortably on Sunday afternoons and tend to gravitate to cotton tees and jeans. It's good to have a lot of comfy cotton basics... no doubt what we reach for the most on the weekends. We're sporting a couple of new tees here. Lindsey's is by Free People, and mine (right) is from Buy Me Brunch

Happy Monday!

Connect Ring

We are very excited about this new silver campLANDON ring designed by Lizabeth Landon Sorensen that recently arrived in the mail! There is a delicacy and edge to this design that we love, and it has quickly become an everyday ring for us. It has been on one of our fingers ever since the day it arrived! Designed around the notion of connecting and empowering women, the ring has been dubbed the Connect ring and is campLANDON's signature piece. Not only is it stylish, a portion of the proceeds support Girls Inc., a wonderful charity for young women that offers innovative tools and programs to set them up for success. Love the philanthropic focus! The silver Connect ring is $195. It's also available in 14K gold for $595

As Lindsey shows in these photos, the Connect ring is very easy to wear and looks great worn alone or piled up with other rings. The design is so striking - love! You'll be seeing more of this one on the blog : ). We can't wait to see the new Connect pendants that are in the works!

Hope y'all have a great Friday and a lovely weekend!

Beauty For A Great Cause

I recently tried two new skincare products I really like and wanted to share with y'all! A friend of mine, Jessica, recently started selling Mary Kay products as an additional source of income, as she and her husband are going through the process of adopting their first child, Judah from Ethiopia. She is a wonderful, compassionate person and will surely be an amazing mom to this baby boy! Click here to read her and her husband's story.

This was my first time to use Mary Kay products. I really like the Satin Hands cream and the TimeWise Microdermabrasion setMy hands are pretty dry so I am constantly in need of moisture. Can there ever be too many bottles of hand cream lying around? I think not. This one is good about keeping my hands feeling hydrating, even after washing them, which is wonderful. It's really affordable, too - just $10. It's unscented so it won't compete with your perfume. I absolutely love the microderm kitMy skin felt sooo much better after I used it! It look refreshed and 'newer'. You can use this kit several times a week. Exfoliation is super important, and I highly recommend this one. This two step set can also be purchased separately. The Mary Kay lip glosses are great, too!

You can support Jessica as she and her husband continue in the adoption process by ordering from her website: here. I hope you will! :-) Please keep Jessica and her family in your prayers as well as Judah and his birth parents.

Happy Thursday, y'all!

How To Look Dressy With A Messy Knot

Being the busybodies that we are, messy hair days happen for us. There's no way around them. Neither of us has the time or desire to blow out and style our hair everyday. Fortunately, messy hair can be pulled off in a chic and polished way! With the right makeup and accessories, it's possible to look stylish and sophisticated, as Lindsey demonstrates in these photos.

Start with bold, feminine colors on the eyes and lips. A smokey eye adds a bit of drama. Here, Lindsey is wearing Chanel Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eyeshadow in EnigmaLe Crayon Yeux Eyeliner in Noirand Le Volume Mascara in Noir A berry pink lip adds elegance. After lining her lips with Chanel's Aqua Crayon lipliner in Plum, she finished with a slick of Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick in Rayonnante, a limited edition shade from the spring collection.

Next, think about adding a statement accessory. Do this even before you select your outfit. A classy pair of earrings like this wallet-friendly set from Shals, adds instant polish. After putting on the earrings, choosing what to wear was a piece of cake. Here, Lindsey opted for a bronze silk jacket by Elizabeth and James, black Citizens skinny jeans, and a pair of cute new gold bangles from Shals

Beautiful! Hope y'all are having a happy Monday!

Easy Outfit Upgrade: The Statement Necklace

One of the easiest ways to elevate an outfit is with a statement necklace. I absolutely love this new one by Shals and couldn't wait to show you! I've had so much fun pairing it with different things in my closet. It's such a classic, versatile piece. Also very affordable (as are all her pieces!) at just $44. I'm usually on the go, so I love a necklace that will take me from the office to dinner or drinks. Here, I paired it with a plain cotton tee, a Helmut Lang blazer, jeans, and Gucci booties. Instant glam. Isn't it lovely? : )

Lindsey and I love this necklace, so you'll be seeing more of it on the blog. : ) This style is the Kiran necklace. Stay tuned for more posts with other fun pieces from Shals

Hope y'all have a lovely weekend!

Schutz Lace Up Bootie

I'm very much loving lace up heels right now. I've seen a lot of great pairs in fall runway shows and expect to see a lot more of this style from now into the fall. My current fave is this gold-studded pair by Schutz. Fell in love as soon as I spotted these on Shopbop. I like the light nude coloring and shiny gold hardware. This pair has the power to change the mood of an outfit and also help older pieces from your closet look newer. Here, I've paired mine with an Elizabeth and James jacket from years ago, a loose cotton Elizabeth and James tee, and my fave Citizens jeans. These heels keep this casual look from being boring. The studded pair is no longer available on Shopbop, but this toasted nude pair by Schutz is a cute alternative.

Love the little gold zippers.
Happy Wednesday, y'all!

Cropped Top + Overalls

It takes a confident gal to wear overalls in her twenties. They are unquestionably one of the tougher trends in fashion to pull off, yet Lindsey proves in these pics that overalls can look really stylish. And hot. This washed denim pair is by Free People. Here, Lindsey pairs hers with a fitted crop top by Eight Sixty and camel booties by Sam Edelman. A good fit is important with overalls. We like a relaxed one that's a bit slim in the leg. Keep the look feminine with a pair of heels or wedges and a bright shade of color on the nails.

We thought girly makeup would look pretty with this boyish style. Here, Lindsey makes a bold statement in Yves Saint Laurent Pur Couture Lipstick in Le Fuchsia.

Doesn't Linds look amazing? Hope y'all are having a great Monday!

Fit and Flare Houndstooth

I have a love-hate relationship with houndstooth. In Alabama, we never have a shortage of it, as the pattern has been a symbol of Crimson Tide football ever since the legendary coach Paul 'Bear' Bryant first sported a houndstooth fedora (see here) in the 60's. Bama fans love their houndstooth. Go to a football game, and you'll see houndstooth shakers, koozies, jewelry, nail art... you'll see the pattern on any and every kind of article of clothing. That being said, it can get a little old seeing it everywhere. I've always loved houndstooth, but I usually don't buy it since there is such an abundance overabundance of it in my state. But when I spotted this Nikay houndstooth cotton blend dress by Theory, I couldn't resist. The feminine silhouette softens the masculinity of the pattern. I feel very girly in it! : )

As for the lipstick, I opted for a fiery orange-red shade, Maybelline's Color Sensational Vivids lipstick in Vibrant Mandarin. It's super pigmented and stays on really nicely. You can't beat the drugstore price.

 Happy Wednesday, y'all! Roll tide.

Spring Fever

If you haven't done so already, it's time to pull out your brights. It feels like spring in Alabama, and I am loving it! We had beautiful, sunny weather over the weekend in Birmingham. I'm so excited about finally pulling bright, happy pieces out of the closet, like this watermelon pink Elizabeth and James jacket. Love this color so much - it puts me in a good mood when I wear it : ). I love it paired with my Schutz lace up booties which give a little edge that counterbalances the sweetness of the jacket. Perfect for an after work meeting or drinks. Wear a bold, contrasting nail shade with it for an unexpected twist. Here, I'm wearing Revlon Parfumerie Nail Polish in Moonlit Woods, a metallic cornflower blue. If you must play it safe with a nude or pale pink nail, then go wild on the toes.

Happy Monday, y'all!

Spring Nail Color Must: Chanel Tapage

Our nails have seen enough dark polish this winter and are ready for a pick-me-up. Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Tapage, a hot cherry pink, is the perfect fix. Part of Chanel's latest collection of spring colors, it's a lively, happy shade that makes a beautiful staple for spring. We love it! It's versatile and goes with most everything. The color is quite flattering and gives the hands a youthful appearance. This bottle may not last us through the season : ).

Don't y'all agree that Lindsey should be a hand model? Hope you're having a happy Tuesday!
