Quick Easy Highlighting Tip

We've always loved using highlighting powder as a simple, quick way to add a healthy sheen to our faces. A touch of highlighter on the face is a good way to avoid the old lady, overly-powdered face look. While Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Bronze, $40 and MAC Mineralized Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle, $29 are definitely our favorites, you can certainly achieve a similar effect using the right shade of shimmery eye shadow as a highlighter. We've both been known to whip out an eye shadow if that's all we have on hand, for a quick highlighting touch up. Again, choosing the right shade is key. Our favorite eye shadow to use as highlighter is probably Lancome Color Design Sensational Effects Eye Shadow in Kitten Heel $18, (pictured above on the left) which is a pretty golden pink shimmer. Pink is surprisingly flattering on the face. Highlighting should be one of the last steps of your makeup routine. All you have to do is rub your index finger into the shadow and then run your finger down the bridge of your nose and right above your cheekbones. Be careful about not getting the shadow underneath your eyes or on the apples of your cheeks. Also, we hope this is obvious, but never put highlighter on your forehead. Filigree is another gorgeous Lancome shadow that we like to use as a highlighter. It's a beautiful champagne gold, which is a great alternative if you are opposed to using pink. If in doubt, just choose a subtle champagne color with a pearlescent sheen. You very well may already have such a shade in your makeup bag. Now, how easy is that? Happy Friday!
