Glitter Love: Essie Luxe Effects Nail Polish

Mary's Sandals: Steve Madden / Polish: Essie Polish in Licorice and As Gold As It Gets

Thanks to a reader's compliment yesterday on our nail posts and hilarious request to see our feet, this is for you! (Thank you, Anonymous!) Being girly girls, we have always been fans of a little glitter and sparkle. But we must point out that glitter can look cheesy if done the wrong way. Mary's polish in the photo above is an example of getting it right. There's nothing cheesy about a wash of gold glitter over black polish. First, Mary started with two coats of Essie Nail Polish in Licorice, $8. Next, she applied two coats of Essie Luxe Effects Nail Polish in As Gold As It Gets, $8. The Luxe Effects is part of a limited time collection (remember the magazine ad of this shade being poured on top of a cherry?). Fortunately, it's still available where we ordered it, from By the way, we tried this glittery shade over white and did not like it. Stick with dark or bright, warm colors as your base. Nothing wrong with adding a little sparkle to your life! Again, we LOVE our readers and always appreciate your comments and suggestions! :)
