Any of our dedicated readers know that we have a major thing for ombré. We recently came across these photos of Jessica Alba's attempt at the style, and we decided this would be a great opportunity to clarify the difference between ombré and dip-dyed hair. Dip-dying is a lot harder to pull off. Here's why: The line between the blonde and brunette color is very even and stark. In Mary's ombré color below, the blonde was painted on in strokes, starting at different levels, adding dimension. Underneath Mary's blonde, there are still dark pieces that purposefully show through. Alba's full colored blonde ends are cute though! It looks great on really long hair. According to the Huffington Post, Rober Ramos of Estilo Salon in LA did Alba's color. We still think Bumble in Bumble's Upper East Side salon, where we both get our ombré done, does the best job! (Zoe and Stephanie do an amazing work there). We will try to find some examples of dip-dyed styles that we like and post them soon for you! Cheers!
