|Lindsey's Leather Top: Elizabeth and James / Jeans: Rag and Bone (You may recognize these from our recent post on candy-colored denim)|
To satisfy our cravings for a little faux-sunshine, we recently tried out the Tantowel. It's a sunless tanner that delivers bronze color via a moist towelette. Each towel looks just like a baby wipe. This intrigued us since self-tanners we normally use come in the form of lotions and sprays. As you can see from the above photo, the color turned out really nicely on Lindsey. I, on the other hand, didn't get very good results because I failed to follow the instructions as exactly listed on the box. I quickly wiped the towelette all over my skin instead of rubbing it on in circular motions, as the directions stated. We used the Tantowel Half-Body Self-Tan towelettes ($13.50), which is designed to give just enough color for your upper or lower body. If you want a tan from head to toe, you can use two of the towelettes, or you can use the Tantowel Total Body Self-Tan towelettes (which are normally $25.50 but are currently under $18 at Drugstore.com).
We liked that our skin felt immediately dry after wiping on the Tantowel. We got dressed afterward and didn't have to worry about the formula getting on our clothes. We noticed that the Tantowel didn't have the unpleasant odor that many self-tanners do. The color lasted on Lindsey for a couple of days. We used the medium shade Tan Towels. Darker and lighter shades are also available. We think the towelettes would be great for packing inside our carry-on's while traveling since most bottles of self-tanning lotion don't meet the FAA size requirements. The Tantowel is definitely worth trying if you've never before used it. Just remember to follow the directions on the box!
